The man from Val Gardena achieved the maximum in the Speed and Lead disciplines. In speed he reached seventh place with his personal best time of 6,655 seconds on the 15m high wall and in lead he climbed to an impressive 15th place. In bouldering, his flagship discipline, things didn't go as planned - he ended up in 13th place. If he had finished in the top 10, he would probably have qualified for the Olympics.

In the end, the 23-year-old “only” ended up in 14th place. Nevertheless, the achievement is remarkable, because it was a small sensation that Piccolruaz climbed with the world elite for the coveted final places.

Fossali solves ticket An athlete from the Italian national team, Ludovico Fossali, already has an Olympic ticket in his pocket. The man from Modena made it to ninth place overall with second place in speed and two 20th places, which guaranteed him permanent Olympic qualification. If he takes advantage of his peak form, he should qualify for Toulouse.
