Piccolruaz and Schenk in impressive form

Piccolruaz and Schenk were the only athletes to manage three boulders in the final. The former reached the top in just four attempts, Schenk needed six. “After the long break from competition, which was also due to corona, I didn’t know where I stood,” reports Piccolruaz: “I felt great in training, but confirming that in competition is not always easy. I'm now looking forward to the first stage of the World Cup in Meiringen (Switzerland)." This year, his preparation is fully focused on the Olympic Games in Tokyo in August, says the 25-year-old, who has already qualified for them.

Schenk also lived up to his role as favorite after his first victory in the Italian Cup. He confidently climbed three tops and came an excellent second. As a result, he collected valuable points for the overall ranking. Michele Bono from Cuneo completed the podium with two tops. Stefan Scarperi climbed to the top straight away in the semifinals, but then scored no more points and finished in 19th place.

In the women's category, Camilla Moroni from Genoa won with three tops and four zone holds. Irina Daziano from Cuneo achieved the same result, but with more attempts. Federica Mabboni from Arco also showed a great performance, coming third. Evi Niederwolfsgruber was also in good form. She came 14th. The next Boulder Italian Cup will take place on April 24th and 25th in Brixen.
