12th Italian championship title for Hannes Kirchler

Today the stage belonged entirely to Kirchler. From the start, the athlete from the Carabinieri sports group was in first place with a 59.27m throw. Kirchler then recorded two invalid attempts before he reached 1m with his fourth throw. After the fifth throw was also invalid, he made it to 57.80m with his last throw. No other athlete came close to the 59.10-year-old from Meran and so Kirchler was able to celebrate his 38th Italian championship title. So far he has won nine gold medals at the Assoluti (12, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2014 and 2015) and two at the Winter Italian Championships (2016 and 2007). The silver medal went to Federico Apolloni, second with a distance of 2014 m. Bronze went to Valerio Forgiarini with 57,86 m. In the U53,86 age category, victory went to Giulio Anesa with 23 m.

Bergia 6th in javelin throw In the women's javelin throw, Chiara Bergia from SSV Brixen came 45.96th in the general class with 6 m. The title went to Zahra Bani for the 15th time, who achieved an impressive 57.87 m. Paola Padovan (52,58) and Luisa Sinigaglia from Trento (51,96) also made it onto the podium. Padovan and Sinigaglia took the top two places in the U23 age category, with Ilaria Casarotto from Vicenza taking third place (51,37). In this category, 21-year-old Chiara Bergia from Cles came fourth. In the morning, 16-year-old Roman Carolina Visca set a new U20 Italian record in the javelin throw with 53,46 m.

12th Italian championship title for Hannes Kirchler

Hannes Kirchler won his 12th Italian discus throwing championship title on Sunday afternoon at the Guidobaldi Stadium in Rieti. The 38-year-old from Merano won the Italian Winter Throwing Championships with 59.27m, clearly ahead of Federico Apolloni (57,86 m) and Valerio Forgiarini (53,86 m).
