“We have had intensive months and weeks behind us. But now everything is arranged and we are looking forward to welcoming many motivated mountain runners to our anniversary edition in Sexten. We are still hoping for good weather, then nothing will stand in the way of an unforgettable day in the heart of the Dolomites,” says OK President Alfred Prenn before his premiere in this role this Saturday.

Around 700 mountain runners have registered for the 25th edition of the autumn classic and are looking forward to an unforgettable day in the 3 Peaks Dolomite region. Among them there are again some contenders for the day's victory, with the top women's field having grown by two illustrious names. On the one hand, Elisa Sortini dares to take on the 17-kilometer-long route with an altitude of 1333 meters. The 38-year-old athlete from the Atletica Alta Valtellina club, a member of the Italian national team and bronze medalist in the team at the European Mountain Running Championships on the Canary Islands, made people take notice with second place at the Rosetta Skyrace just last weekend. The women's field of participants is extremely strong Sortini faces strong competition from the German Julia Rath, who is actually a middle-distance runner. A year ago, the woman from Fürth unexpectedly won U20 silver at the German Mountain Running Championships. Of course, on Saturday all eyes will be on the Sesto local hero Agnes Tschurtschenthaler, who was only beaten by the Finn Kaisa Mäkäräinen last year. The experts also have to keep an eye on the winner of the South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run 2016, Sara Bottarelli.

Martin Hackhofer, Mauro Rasom, Silvio Wieltschnig: This trio is the most popular in the men's play-off for the day's victory. The first from Sexten, the second from the Fassa Valley and the third from Carinthia - their places of origin couldn't be more different. But they all have the same goal: they want to claim victory in the anniversary edition of the Drei Zinnen Alpine Run. The two former OC bosses Ludwig Tschurtschenthaler and Gottfried Hofer will also be running. Big award ceremony on Saturday afternoon in Sexten After the race, the fun is far from over. After the participants have arrived at the Dreizinnenhütte, after a well-deserved refreshment and the traditional flower ceremony, they head back down towards Sesto, where the popular after-race party with live music and the big award ceremony take place on the festival site. There will also be a lot of running in Sexten on Sunday, but this time it's the little ones' turn. Young mountain runners can try their hand at the Mini Drei Zinnen Alpine Run. On a variety of routes ranging from 300 to 1200 meters long, the focus for kids and young people is on having fun.

On Saturday the starting signal for the 10th edition of the South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run will be fired at Haus Sexten at 25 a.m. There are also some top athletes among the numerous athletes.
