Eighth Italian championship title for Hannes Kirchler

After almost four years, Hannes Kirchler was once again crowned Italian discus throwing champion and celebrated his eighth championship title. The 35-year-old from Merano won the Winter Italian Championships in Lucca on Sunday with 58,53m, ahead of Federico Apolloni (57,96m) and Stefano Petrei (52,98m). The 23-year-old Daniel Compagno from Bolzano finished the competition in fourth place, just nine centimeters behind the bronze medal.
