Alex Verginer third at the Italian Decathlon Championships in Lana

A strong performance from the decathlete, who set a new record with 6.848 points. The Gadertaler impressed in all disciplines. Over 1500 m he improved his personal best time by over three seconds and increased it to 4:35.66 minutes. Verginer also set new records in the 110 m hurdles (15.97), long jump (6.74), shot throw (11.36) and discus (35.96). After 10 competitions, bronze was enough. Verginer exceeded its previous record by 255 points. He was only 46 points short of Roberto Paoluzzi's second place. Jacopo Zanatta, however, became the new Italian champion with 7327 points.

Verginer was the only South Tyrolean at the start, as junior Thomas Schiffregger had to pass due to injury. The U20 title went to the Roman Matteo Chiusolo, while Alice Boasso won the women's title of the same age. Sveva Gerevini became Italian champion in the general class.

Alex Verginer third at the Italian Decathlon Championships in Lana

The Italian All-Around Championships took place in Lana at the weekend for the fourth time in a row. The 22-year-old Alex Verginer from Val Badia, who competes for Atletica Gherdeina, achieved an excellent third place in the general class.
