Everything prepared for the Bolzano City Trail

In recent years, runners were spoiled for choice every weekend as to which event to take part in, but this has changed fundamentally in the midst of the corona pandemic. Only individual runs take place with a limited and manageable number of participants and under very high security precautions. The Bozen City Trail this Sunday, October 18th is one of these events. The organizing committee consisting of the Bozen Tourist Office, SC Neugries and the Ökoinstitut have done everything in the past few weeks to ensure that the third edition of the popular trail event can take place with maximum safety for participants and everyone else involved. “The last few weeks have certainly not been easy for us. But we wanted to set a sign of a new start. We are aware of the great responsibility and once again appeal to all participants to strictly adhere to our hygiene and safety concept. If the minimum distance cannot be maintained, mouth and nose protection must be worn. The obligation to wear a mask also applies when entering closed spaces, for example when starting numbers are handed out, or as soon as the runners enter their starting block or overtake a competitor along the route. And of course, frequent washing and disinfecting your hands is also included,” Roberta Agosti, Andreas Daum (both Bozen Tourist Office), Dorothea Kelderer (SC Neugries) and Sonja Abrate (Ökoinstitut) never tire of emphasizing. Several top athletes at the start The safety concept also includes that the start at Waltherplatz in Bolzano will be held in blocks from 10 a.m. so that there are no large gatherings of people. The refreshment stands were also canceled because too many athletes could meet there. After reaching the finish line, all participants receive a sealed package that contains food and the coveted finisher medal. No spectators are allowed on the Bozen City Trail. By Thursday, over 200 trail enthusiasts had already signed up for one of the three distances available - Bozen City Trail (27 km), Bozen City Run (16 km) and Bozen City Enjoy (6 km). Among the participants is Andreas Reiterer from Avelengo, who is one of the strongest trail runners in Italy and took part in the Trail World Championships in Portugal last year. Gianmarco Bazzoni from Bolzano, the overall winner of the 7 Top2019 race series, will be there. Agnes Tschurtschenthaler leads the women's field. For many years, the Sesto native was one of Italy's strongest middle and long-distance runners, but was also very successful in cross-country and mountain running. Last year's winner Irene Senfter (Lana) is also back at the start of the Bozen City Trail. Registrations are possible until Saturday, 18 p.m.
