OC boss Gottfried Hofer and his many volunteers from the ALV Sextner Dolomiten have been working towards Day X for months. The preparation phase is almost complete; the remaining two days will only involve fine-tuning. “We are ready for the 18th edition of our mountain run. And we are looking forward to the many, many participants from 20 different nations. We will do everything we can to make them feel at home with us,” explains Gottfried Hofer a few days before the showdown. The South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run has been sold out since Tuesday last week with a total of 1000 participants. This meant that it was no longer possible to get a starting place earlier than ever before in the long history of the traditional run in Sexten. “For logistical reasons we cannot allow more than 1000 athletes to start. But of course we are pleased that there is so much interest,” Hofer continued.

Frick and Confortola are there The South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run is also very popular among top athletes. Gerd Frick from Bolzano and the former top cross-country skier Antonella Confortola (Fleimstal) registered at short notice. Both were already on the podium or were able to win the race. Local heroes Agnes Tschurtschenthaler and Elisabeth Egarter are also there. Among the men, Cesare Maestri and Andrzej Dlugosz (Poland) want to reach for victory. Last year's winner Victoria Kreuzer from Switzerland had to cancel her start “very reluctantly” (O-Ton Kreuzer). Like the Austrians Susanne Mair and Markus Hohenwarter, who were also registered for the South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run, she was injured in training - and now has to pass.

Great supporting program The three-day mountain running event in Sexten begins on Friday, September 11th from 13 p.m. with the distribution of start numbers and the runners' expo. The traditional dumpling party takes place at 18 p.m. On Saturday, September 12th, athletes will be offered a runner's breakfast for 5 euros from 7 a.m. The starting signal for the 10th edition of the South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run finally sounds at 18 a.m. The race will be broadcast live on a big screen at Haus Sexten. The popular pasta party starts here at 13.30:15.30 p.m. and seamlessly transitions into the finisher party at 17:XNUMX p.m. The winners will be awarded at XNUMX p.m.

The South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run focuses on young people The children and youth program extends over two days. The centerpiece is and remains the Mini Drei Zinnen Run on Sunday, September 13th. The starting shot for the kids is at 10 a.m. The fastest time is run over various distances from 300 meters for the very little ones (born in 2010 and even younger) to Junior A (born in 1998 and 1999) with a distance of 2800 meters. However, fun should always be the priority. On Saturday afternoon (September 12th), children and young people can try their hand at using an air rifle at the shooting range in the Schützenstüberl in Sexten from 12 p.m. to 16 p.m. The shooting, together with the running time, will then be included in a separate rating for the summer biathlon. This competition is particularly popular with the junior teams of local biathlon clubs, but all other children can also take part.
