On Pentecost Sunday the 34th edition of the Brixia Meeting

The starting field this year includes 16 teams, the majority of them from different regions of Italy, but also some from surrounding countries, such as the teams from Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Ticino. Slovenia is even starting with a national selection. In total, more than 800 young athletes, coaches and officials move into their quarters in the Isarco Valley during the competition days.

The South Tyrolean hopefuls Among the numerous participants there are also some South Tyrol athletics talents who have a chance of reaching the podium. Last year, Alessandra Realdon from Bolzano came second in the 100 m hurdles and Mario Buniolo from Brixen came third in the 100 m sprint. This year the South Tyrol selection is particularly relying on host Isabel Vikoler from SG Eisacktal. She has a personal best time of 400:1 minutes in the 03.06m hurdles, which is the second best time behind Corinna Schwab from Bavaria (59.18). Anna Polinari from Veneto (1:03.28) and Isabella Grandolfo from Trieste (1:03.28) are also among the favorites. The 400m runner Michael Albrecht from the Meran sports club, who is celebrating his season debut in Brixen, comes to Brixen with a record of 49.06 seconds. His strongest competitors are the Slovenian Gregor Grahovac (48.17), the Lombard Klaudio Gjetja (48.92) and Davide Campana from Lazio (49.03). The Bolzano high jumper Alberto Masera from Athletic Club 96 could also be good for a surprise. On Wednesday he improved by five centimeters to 1,99 m at the school championships in Brixen. The favorites are Andrea Motta (Lombardy/2.14), Francesco Ruzza (Veneto/2.10) and Lukas Mihota (Bayern/2.08).
