On Saturday “Erdäpfel Run” with over 700 participants

First place in Kaltern and Meran, third in the Reschenseelauf: Hannes Rungger is the dominator of the Top7 running series. And the Sarner is also the big favorite in the 15th edition of the Puster 3/4 half marathon from Bruneck to Sand in Taufers. Rungger is hoping for a double hat trick. The 31-year-old could triumph in Sand in Taufers for the third time in a row and at the same time (like last year) win the three runs with the highest number of participants (Top7). Rungger's toughest opponents are likely to be two Pusterers who have also already won the race: record winner Hermann Achmüller (five victories between 2011 and 2010) and Georg Brunner, the winner from 2008. But Top7 overall winner Michael Burger and the Top7 overall winner also have top places 2011, Rudi Brunner in sight.

Seven-time winner Renate Rungger is not taking part in the women's race. However, Kathrin Hanspeter is a worthy replacement. Hanspeter, who also comes from the Sarntal, reached the finish line in third place at the Reschenseelauf, immediately behind Rungger. She even won the spring half marathon in Meran. The first three of the top 7 overall rankings are also at the start, namely Edeltraud Thaler, Petra Pircher and Andrea Schweigkofler.

With 732 people registered, the OK team around Hermann Achmüller, Willi Innerhofer, Manfred Ambach, Paul Innerhofer and Franz Hofer achieved a new participant record. Last year there were 80 fewer two days before the race. The “Erdäpfel Run” has never been as international as this year. The participants come from Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Oceania and therefore from all five continents. There are even runners from New Zealand, the USA and Japan at the start.

The start of the “Erdäpfel Run” (2,5 kg of Puster potatoes awaits each participant at the finish) will take place for the seventh time this year at Bruneck’s town hall square. The route leads via Dietenheim and Aufhofen along the Ahr cycle path through Gais, Uttenheim to Kematen and on to the finish at the festival site in Sand in Taufers. The height difference is 35 meters. It starts on Saturday at 17 p.m.
