At the weekend U16 Italian Championships in Cles

While the boys don't have a say in the awarding of the top places, several girls start with medal hopes. Above all, Merano walker Sara Buglisi, who has the second best time of the season over 3 km in 14:33.96 minutes, behind Ida Mastrangelo from Apulia. The 300 m runner Federica Cavalli from Bolzano and the pole vaulter Nathalie Kofler from Lana could also be considered for a podium place. The middle-distance runners Ruth Hannah Hauser and Katja Pattis as well as the long jumper Linda Maria Pircher are also given outside chances.

In the last two years, the South Tyrolean U16 national team returned with three medals at the title fights in Borgo Valsugana and Sulmona: in 2014, Michael Albrecht won gold in the 300m, while Sophie Mayr from Puster won the pentathlon and Isabel Sader from Eisacktal won bronze in the long jump. Last year, however, Patrick Baù from SG Eisacktal took third place in the 300 m, his teammate Angela Kier and Mirko Lepir from Vinschger in the long jump. This year it will be difficult to confirm these results.

The competitions in Cles will take place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October. The state selection is accompanied by the coaches Karl Schöpf, Hans Ladurner, Marco Andreatta, Gianpiero Pagliotta and Hubert Indra
