The U20 and U23 titles will be awarded in Florence this weekend

Florence is hosting this event for the eighth time. This year they want to break the record of 1600 track and field athletes who were registered in Brixen last year. A total of 80 Italian championship titles will be awarded this weekend, 40 in each age group. The relay competitions will also be held; 115 teams will fight for victory in this discipline.

At stake are not only the coveted Italian championship titles, but also tickets for the important international competitions this season. The U20s want to qualify for the European Championships in Grosseto (July 20th to 23rd), while the older athletes want a ticket for the Mediterranean Games (July 5th to 9th) and the U23 European Championships in Bydgoscz in Poland (July 13th to 16th).

The local hopefuls Among the participants there are also many local young hopefuls who climbed to the podium five times in Brixen last year with Julia Calliari, Sophia Zingerle, Valentina Cavalleri, Andreas Zagler and Chiara Bergia.

Of course, these athletes would like to have a say in the awarding of the medals again this year and are among the favorites in their disciplines. In addition, the South Tyrolean hopes rest on the shoulders of 400m sprinter Brayan Lopez and Caren Agreiter from Pusteria. The SSV Bruneck athlete is registered with the third best time of the Italian season in the 400 m hurdles with 58.70 seconds. Isabel Vikoler from SG Eisacktal could also fight for a podium place over 400 m.

The U20 and U23 titles will be awarded in Florence this weekend

The Italian Athletics Championships in the U9 and U11 age groups will take place in Florence from Friday, June 23th to Sunday, June 20th. Numerous top South Tyrolean athletes are also taking part in the event, which is being held in Tuscany again after 32 years.
