Andreas Zagler U23 vice-champion of Italy in javelin throwing

At the beginning of the season, Zagler moved from the Bozen Running Club to Athletic Club 96, where he is trained by Paolo Valt. Three weeks ago, the man from Kaltern impressed at a meeting in Schio with 62.47m, and today he won silver in Lucca with a new record of 64.61m. In doing so, he improved his old record from October 2015, when he threw 63.41m in Caorle, by a whopping 1.20 m. Zagler broke the 64 m mark in his first attempt (64.02), and then improved to 64.61 m with his third throw XNUMX m. The title went to Roberto Orlando from Atletica Virtus Lucca with 64.87m, while Massimo Ros from Friual took bronze with 64.22m. In the general class, Antonio Fent won with 77.94m ahead of Norbert Bonvecchio from Trentino (72.18m) and Roberto Bertolini from Milan (71.03m). Orlando took 4th place, Zagler was 5th. In the women's race, Sara Jemai won with 52.20m, just ahead of defending champion Zahra Bani (52.08m). Chiara Bergia from Cles, who is competing for SSV Brixen this year, came seventh with 42.99m. In the U23 category it was enough to take bronze behind Paola Padovan (50.81m) and Sveva Gerevini (43.41m). Hannes Kirchler from Merano, however, decided not to take part in the discus because he wants to concentrate on the summer season this year.

Andreas Zagler U23 vice-champion of Italy in javelin throwing

The 19-year-old from Kalteren won silver in the U23 competition at the Winter Italian Javelin Championships in Lucca behind top favorite Roberto Orlando from Salerno. Orlando won with 64.87m, while Andreas Zagler came in an excellent second with a new personal best of 64.61m.
