Athletic Club 96 Bozen 2nd in the Italian Championship

Bolzano had confidently won the Scudetto in the last two seasons, and this year the 2021 Italian Championship title went to ASD Enterprise Sport & Service. The club from Benevento came out on top with 183 points, just ahead of Athletic Club Bozen (174,5), while third place went to Atletica Biotekna with 3 points. The Talferstädters were only a few points short of their third Tricolore in a row at the Italian team championship. Athletic Club 96 takes three daily wins and eight podium places Brayan Lopez ensured the top result for Bolzano. The 400 m ace from Piedmont was able to assert himself in his flagship discipline in 47.18 seconds. Hurdle champion Paolo Dal Molin also took gold. The 2013 European Indoor European Championship runner-up timed the 110 m hurdles in a good 13.79 seconds. Daniel Compagno took the third victory in Bolzano. The discus thrower won with 51.44 m ahead of Sebastiano Bianchetti (51.28) and Riccardo Ferrara (51.01). Olympic finalist Oscar Chelimo took second place in the 5000 m in 2:14 minutes. Walker Leonardo Dei Tos from Vittorio Veneto also came in second place over 29.96 km in 10:41 minutes. Hammer thrower Michele Ongarato also secured silver, and the 08.89x4 m relay with Leonardo Vianello, Abdessalam Machmach, Ebrima Bojang and Brayan Lopez also placed second. Middle-distance runner Machmach took bronze in his flagship discipline over 800 m, as did 3000 m steeplechase runner Edoardo Melloni. The long jumper Antonino Trio, who was recently injured, reached 7.31 m, which was enough for third place. The Bolzano pole vaulter Nicolò Fusaro also secured bronze with 3 m. Athletic Club 96 Bozen 2nd in the Italian Championship

With a strong performance, the Bolzano club Athletic Club 96 Alperia made people sit up and take notice this weekend at the Italian team championship in Caorle. President Bruno Telchini's team was named runner-up in the “Finale Oro” of the 12 best teams in Italy.
