Athletic Club at the Finale Oro in Florence

After the Talferstädters were crowned team regional champions for the 17th time in a row a little over a month ago, they continued to collect points diligently in the following weeks and qualified for the final with the fourth record of 15.901 points. Only Atletica Biotekna Macron (16.007), Atletica Firenze (15.940) and Atletica Vicentina, which achieved 36 points more than the Bolzano club, did better.

The Athletic Club 96 has been taking part in the national finals continuously since 2005. After 2007 in Palermo, 2010 in Borgo Valsugana and the last five seasons in Milan, Jesolo, Cisinello Balsamo and most recently Modena twice, the people of Bolzano are competing in the highest class, the Finale Oro, for the eighth time. “We have prepared very well for this major event and can travel to Florence with the entire team. Our goal is to confirm our best result (3rd place last year). But it certainly won't be easy, because there are a lot of good teams competing in Florence," explains club president Bruno Telchini.

All top athletes at the start At the weekend, Bozen can rely on the entire squad. Several Azzurri are running for the Talferstadt team. Paolo Dal Molin will complete the 110m hurdles. Sprinter ace Jacques Riparelli, on the other hand, will compete in the 100 m, while Brayan Lopez, newly crowned U23 Italian champion, will compete in the 400 m, 200, 400 m and relay events. Homegrown Nicolò Fusaro will compete in the pole vault, Abdessalam Machmach, one of the strongest middle-distance runners, will compete in the 800 and 1500 m. Walker Leonardo Dei Tos is also registered for the 10 km. Hammer thrower Michele Ongarato and javelin thrower Hubert Göller also have good chances. Also taking part is 20-year-old Aberto Masera from Bolzano, who is registered in the high jump with 2.03 m.

Each individual team is allowed to field 20 athletes in at least 16 different disciplines (no more than two athletes per competition and only one relay). The winner of a competition gets 8 points, the second place gets 7, until the eighth person gets one point. The team with the most points is crowned Italian champion. Final Oro - Florence, 15.-16. Athletic Club at the Finale Oro in Florence

On Saturday, June 15th and Sunday, June 16th, the Oro final of the Italian team championship will take place in Florence, where the best 13 teams from Italy will meet. As in the last five years, the Bolzano club Athletic Club 96 Alperia will also be there.
