Baggia and Hofer win to finish in the top7

The Top7 running series came to an end on Saturday in great weather with cloudless skies and bright sunshine. The approximately 300 participants in the Agefactor Run found optimal conditions to tackle the fast 10-kilometer course from Branzoll via Pfatten and Leifers back to Branzoll. The fastest time was achieved by Matthias Agethle, who completed the route in 33.57 minutes and left Fabian Fronthaler from Toblach behind by 18 seconds. Agethle ended up 11th, Fronthaler finished 25th.

As strange as it sounds: the winner crossed the finish line in Branzoll almost 20 minutes after Agethle. Bruno Baggia was on the move for 52.10 minutes. Because the Nonstaler is 84 years old, his time was multiplied by the so-called age factor and the winning time was 29.07 minutes. Second place went to Johann Mair from the South Tyrolean Running Club (+25 seconds), while Fedele Badolato (Polisportiva Giudicarie Esteriori) took third place. “The warm temperatures really bothered me today. I prefer to run when it's a little colder. Of course I knew that my win last year made me one of the favorites. But this pressure actually spurs me on,” said winner Baggia at the finish, who is one of the best Masters athletes in the world.

Fastest Bettin of the day has to settle for 7th place The race was similar for the women. Loretta Bettin from Trentino achieved the best time of the day in 37.35 minutes. But Sabine Hofer, who competes for LAC Salzburg, won. Hofer crossed the finish line after 38.34 minutes, but multiplied by the age factor the time came to 32.17 minutes. Second place went to Edeltraud Thaler from Lana (Telmekom Team/34.12), third place was Rosa Pattis (34.39). Loretta Bettin took seventh place.

“We were holding a training camp here in South Tyrol when our chairman found out about this run. We then decided to get started. The race was really great and now I will probably have to come back next year to defend my victory,” said Sabine Hofer with a smile.

The Top7 running series 2018 came to an end with the Agefactor Run. The overall winners will be awarded in just under a month - on Saturday, November 18th - at a big celebration in Neumarkt.
