Track season opens in Haslach

Although the weather was initially cloudy, the runners found the best conditions. Only later did the heavy rain cause problems for the athletes.

The focus of the event was the well-attended competitions in the general classes. Petra Nardelli from Eggen, Linda Pircher from Burgstall and Simon Zandarco from Gargazon were successful twice each.

The 24-year-old Nardelli, who competes for the South Tyrol Team Club, won the 100 meters in a strong 12.08 seconds and the 200 m in an equally good 24.73 seconds. She missed her best times by 12 and 67 hundredths of a second, respectively. Zandarco won the 400 m and 110 m hurdles.

Linda Maria Pircher from Burgstall, who competes for SV Lana, set a new personal best in the javelin throw with 33.44 m and also won the long jump.

The two figureheads of Athletic Club 96 Bozen, Hubert Göller and Destiny Nkeonye, also achieved strong results. Göller won the javelin throw with 60.07 m, Nkeonye the long jump with 6.85 m. David Pircher secured a double victory in the U18s in the 110m hurdles and in the javelin throw.

The Val Gardena javelin thrower Chiara Goffi reached an impressive 42.64 m, improving her previous best of 38.69 m by almost four meters. Her younger sister Alessia was also able to celebrate a new record in the U16 long jump with 5.21 m. For the boys, Mattia Cruciotti from the South Tyrol Team Club celebrated a double victory in the 80 m and long jump.

The opening meeting in Haslach went off without a hitch. A second meeting is scheduled for next Saturday in Lana. Track season opens in Haslach

The South Tyrolean railway season opened in Bolzano on Saturday after a long Corona break. Over 96 athletes took part in the event, which was organized by Athletic Club 150, the SAF and the Südtirol Team Club in Haslach.
