Bazzoni and Andersag take the top 7 overall ranking in 2019

Gianmarco Bazzoni collected 2197 points in the past eleven months and, like last year, took the top 7 overall victory. And again the 30-year-old was unable to achieve success on the day. But Bazzoni was always at the top of the results lists in the individual races and that ultimately brought him triumph in the overall ranking. And a significant increase of 246 points compared to the previous year: With his score from 2018 (1951 points), Bazzoni would have ended up behind Martin Griesser and Dario Steinacher - both from the ASV Freienfeld running club - this year. As it was, he was able to keep the two Eisacktal top athletes in check and take the places of honor: Griesser collected 2107 points in the seven races, Steinacher got 2049 points.

In the women's category, however, Natalie Andersag prevailed. The 27-year-old Kardauner got better and better towards the end of the Top7 run series. She first won the Soltn mountain half marathon in September, before achieving the fastest running time among women at the Age Factor Run in Branzoll in October. Andersag collected 2356 points in a total of seven races. That's 126 points more than last year's winner Loretta Bettin scored. Behind Andersag, Mirka Lorenzani (ASC Laas Raiffeisen) took second place in the overall ranking this year, while Karolina Rosa Thaler from Sarnen was able to celebrate third place.

Slight growth in the number of participants In total, more than 2019 participants took part in the Top5000 series in the 7 running season, which was held for the 14th time. “We were able to see a slight uptick this year in terms of entries. Of course we are very happy about that. The individual events have become established over the years and we are also a very well-coordinated team. Every organizer tries to make the best of “his” run - but always has the Top7 overall structure in mind and wishes his colleagues only the best. This is the only way we can keep our standards consistently high and impress our participants with professionalism and a family atmosphere,” explained the organizers of the Top7 running series.

As far as 2020 is concerned, the “makers” are sticking to the tried and tested. The start of the 15th Top7 running series traditionally takes place in the old year with the Ladurner Volkslauf as part of the BOclassic South Tyrol on December 31st. Also scheduled after the turn of the year are the Under Armor Kalterer See Half Marathon (March 29th), the Merano – Algund Half Marathon (May 3rd), the Reschenseelauf (July 18th), the Raiffeisen ¾ Half Marathon (August 22nd) and the Soltn Mountain Half Marathon (September 27th) and the Age Factor Run (October 24th) on the program. The clubs with the most participants will be awarded in 2020 To thank the athletes for 15 years of loyalty and running fun, the organizing team came up with something special. The “hardworking” clubs will receive bonuses of €300, €200 and €100 next year. The prerequisite is that at least seven runners take part in each of the seven races; only those races with timekeeping apply. The club will be credited with one point per participant.
