In the high jump, Andrej Protsenko won bronze with 2,33 m behind Olympic champion Mutaz Essa Barshim (QAT/2,37), who took gold, and Woo Sang-hyeok (KOR/2,35). World Athletics (WA) provided more than $220.000 for the country's participants at the U20 World Championships in Cali, Colombia, and the World Championships in Eugene. Because of the war, many of Ukraine's top athletes have to train abroad, where tests were organized for them by the World Anti-Doping Agency. Protsenko “not relaxed” Protsenko explained that he didn't know why he was so nervous; he found the competition very stressful. Only after the first successful attempts was he able to relax. “But seriously, I have no chance of being relaxed. Three months ago I brought my family from Ukraine and the occupied territories, but I left everything at home in Kherson. “I only have one bag, that’s all I have,” he reported. He doesn't have a base in Europe yet, but when he returns from Eugene he will look for a house for the family and a place for himself to train.
