Everything is ready to go on the Bozen City Trail

So far the Bozen City Trail has been held three times. At two editions of the Bolzano running spectacle, which takes participants high over the roofs of the valley town, Hannes Rungger laughed from the highest step on the podium. At the premiere in 2018, the now 39-year-old from Sarntal won with a time of 2:01.48 hours, while two years later he broke the two-hour mark in his second triumph in 1:59.50. He proved that Rungger is a force to be reckoned with in the fight for the day's victory three weeks ago at the Soltn Mountain Half Marathon. The top South Tyrolean athlete took second place, a few seconds behind winner Michael Hofer. But it's not just Hannes Rungger who is good for a triumph at the Bolzano trail spectacle. Thanks to his undisputed qualities, Luca Clara can also be at the forefront on the 27 kilometer long route with 1200 meters of altitude. This year, the 21-year-old, who runs for the ASV Gherdeina Runners, won, among other things, the 36 km distance at the Rosengarten-Schlern Skymarathon and the Funes Dolomites Run. Clara took third place at the South Tyrolean Erdäpfllauf at the end of August. Last year the Eisacktaler also competed in Bolzano. The talented runner took third place on the shorter distance of the Bozen City Run (16 km/600 m). However, the participation of Jens Kramer, Irene Senfter and Julia Kessler, who is the absolute top favorite for the day's victory among women, has been certain for a long time. 4 different distances In addition to the Bozen City Trail and the Bozen City Run, participants can also choose from the “flat” Bozen City Starter, whose 10-kilometer route runs largely parallel to the Talfer stream bed. There is also a non-competitive 5-kilometer run, which is aimed primarily at young people aged 16 and over. The preparations for the big Bolzano running spectacle, which will take the participants on the promenades of the Talferstadt and through forests shimmering in the most colorful colors, are largely completed three days before the starting signal on Sunday, October 17th at 10 a.m. at Waltherplatz. “We are ready and from where we stand, we can get started. Of course, there is still a bit of fine-tuning to be done. As in the previous year, we ask all participants to adhere to the safety measures in the context of the Covid pandemic as carefully as possible. As far as the weather is concerned, which is always a big unknown at an outdoor sporting event, the forecast says we are lucky. The Bozen City Trail 2021 next Sunday is one of the best-attended editions of the popular running event in the South Tyrolean state capital. With the two-time winner Hannes Rungger and the Klausner youngster Luca Clara, two more aces of the local athletics scene recently registered for the event.
