At 30 degrees it is simply healthier to eat a fresh melon than a fatty fried schnitzel. In addition, a lot of electricity is saved, which is of course particularly relevant at the moment. Back to the roots The tropical temperatures are changing our lives and so a touch of the good old days comes back, which, as we know, were not always so good. The clothesline is experiencing a wonderful renaissance. It's nice how shirts and towels can finally sway to the rhythm of the wind again. A colorful spectacle that had been denied us for years, because the laundry was stuck in the dryer and only came out into the fresh air when it was selected by its respective owner. Of course also the owner.

Now this household helper has a break. This benefits the electricity bill and somehow also the attitude towards life. Our curiosity about the contents of the closet in the house next door is finally satisfied again. We Northern Lights have been left behind in this regard by people from southern Europe in recent years, because in Palermo or Naples the laundry has always been fluttering between the rows of houses, lashed with wooden clamps that have withstood many storms.

Of course, this is not a platform for the US boys or athletes from South America. You are finally among yourself again. So the German team and many others are throwing sand in their eyes. Only a few European athletes are still somewhat competitive. There are fewer and fewer people on the running routes, so that, as has usually been the case in the past, it is primarily the technical disciplines that are preventing the world of athletics from sinking into insignificance. It's a little cooler in the evening Of course, not everyone is blessed with the grace of cautious movements in this heat. The heroes of the Tour de France, for example, have to brave the incredible temperatures just as much as the kicking women at their European Championships. After all, these have the advantage that the ball always only rolls in the slightly cooler evening hours. Then the living room, where the television is, has already cooled down a bit. And if there is still some of the day's melon left, enriched with thinly sliced South Tyrolean bacon, we can confidently end this hot day with some sporty observation. Of course not without first taking the dry, sun-scented laundry off the line.
