BOclassic 2015: Mayor Spagnolli takes a stand - UPDATE

The situation is completely different than described by the organizers. For years there has been talk about moving the destination area in order to allow the Christmas market to continue fully into the new year. Last year's experience of keeping the Christmas market open until January 6th paid off for economic reasons. Months ago, representatives of the spa administration, the deputy mayor and the BOclassic organizers met for discussions and considered the possibility of KEEPING THE ROUTE IN THIS FORM AND JUST MOST THE FINISH LINE!

I know that this is difficult, but: Where there is a will, there is a way. While we from the community, together with the spa administration, tried to implement this solution, the organizers put everything on the back burner and then said: Or everything stays as it was, or the BOclassic doesn't take place.

You have to be honest and say that the organizers have done a very good job so far. It is very difficult to find the financial resources and volunteers for such a large event. For its part, the city of Bolzano contributed with great enthusiasm to the success of the event and provided equipment, resources and personnel. I don't want the situation to become really critical this year, and I certainly don't want anyone to come up with the idea of blaming the possible failure on us. The municipality and the spa administration have always acted promptly and transparently.

We will work on a solution in the next few days.

On Wednesday evening, the organizing committee responded to Mayor Spagnolli's post, which we reproduce here verbatim:

Dear Mayor and friend of BOclassic,

For years, as sponsors and organizers of the BOclassic, we have been working hard together with the community and spa administration to ensure that the New Year's Eve run and the Christmas market coexist. We have also always behaved cooperatively over the past two years and have even made some compromises in order to leave space for the Christmas market. We have also always communicated openly and responded very positively at the beginning of this year to the setting up of a working group with all those involved - with the aim of developing solutions together. In response to our concerns, a full-scale plan was drawn up so that we could have objective discussions.

However, we were surprised that we were invited to a working meeting for the first time in August and that a plan was presented to us at this meeting as to what it would be like in 2015. We were neither involved in finding a solution nor about the new regulations for the Bolzano Christmas market (approved with municipal council resolution No. 11 of February 24.02.2015th, 14.03.2015, enforcement date March 6.1th, 2015) or the promises until January XNUMXth. to all stand operators at the beginning of June XNUMX.

At the meeting in August we rejected the proposed solution due to technical and logistical difficulties as well as a reduction in attractiveness - last Monday the exact same variant was proposed to us again.
