BOclassic: Jbari and Pattis triumph in the fun run

A total of around 350 amateur athletes took part in the 19th edition of the renowned running event in the state capital and said goodbye to 2022 with a sporting fireworks display.

After a minute's silence for Pope Benedict XVI, who died on Saturday. The starting signal for the 14th BOclassic Ladurner fun run was given shortly after 19 p.m. Defending champion Khalid Jbari, last year's runner-up Osvaldo Zanella and Marco Corti immediately took the lead, with a large chasing group behind them. The leading trio stayed close together throughout the rest of the race and de facto ran the four 1,25 kilometer laps in Bolzano city center together. So the winner had to be determined in the finish sprint. Here Jbari had the better end, winning in 15.30 minutes and celebrating his third victory in total at the BOclassic Ladurner fun run. Curious: Last year Jbari won in 15.29 minutes. Zanella repeated second place from last year (15.31), Corti crossed the finish line after 15.36 minutes.

“I ran almost as fast today as I did last year and of course I’m happy that I was able to win again. The external conditions were almost perfect. My next goals? I’m preparing for the Malta Marathon in February,” was Jbari’s first reaction after his home win.

Pattis with start-to-finish victory In the women's race, Katja Pattis celebrated a dominant start-to-finish victory. The 20-year-old, who twice became the U20 Italian champion in the 3000 meter steeplechase, immediately took the lead and subsequently ran a lonely race. For the young Tierserin, who won the BOclassic Ladurner Volkslauf for the first time, the stopwatch finally stopped after 17.38 minutes. Second place went to Loretta Bettin from Trentino, who completed the 5 km in the heart of Bolzano in 18.19 minutes. Emma Lucia Graf from SG Eisacktal completed the podium, who was only six seconds slower than Bettin. Silvia Weissteiner from Vipiteno followed in fourth place (18.33).

“I am of course very happy with my victory here in this traditional race. At the beginning I was a little worried that I might have started too quickly. But I quickly realized that I could keep up the pace,” said Pattis after reaching the finish line at Waltherplatz.

The highlight of the BOclassic South Tyrol follows with the elite races for women (from 15.35:16 p.m.) and men (7 p.m.). The Top26 running series, however, will continue in the spring after the start on New Year's Eve. The second stage of the new Kaltererseelauf takes place on Sunday, March 13th. With the Teroldego Event (May 4th), the Cortina Toblach Run (June 2th) and the Seiser Alm Half Marathon (July 7nd), the TopXNUMX running series will be expanded to a total of nine events.

BOclassic: Jbari and Pattis triumph in the fun run

The new Top7 running series was traditionally opened on the last day of the old year: Khalid Jbari (Bozen) and Katja Pattis (Tiers) won the BOclassic Ladurner Volkslauf in ideal running weather with extremely mild temperatures of around 12 degrees Celsius.
