Brixen is looking forward to its spectacular mountain running weekend

The popular and renowned event, with a total of five different distances to choose from, will be launched with the Women's Run Brixen on Friday evening. The final preparations are almost complete and the weather gods also seem to be kind to the organizers around OK boss Christian Jocher. In Brixen everything is prepared for the big running party, which can be held under “normal” circumstances for the first time in three years. The organizing committee is particularly pleased that almost perfect weather conditions are forecast for Saturday. After all, the meteorological conditions for an outdoor event like the Brixen Dolomites Marathon are crucial. The running event begins one minute after midnight, when the starting signal for the Dolomites Ultra Trail is given at Domplatz. From here, the top athletes go on an 84 kilometer long route in the fantastic mountain world of the Dolomites with an altitude of no less than 4728 meters back to the finish at Domplatz. The Dolomites Ultra Trail must be completed in teams of two - also for safety reasons. All eyes on the Brixen Dolomites Marathon The Brixen Dolomites Marathon is the heart of the event However, the biggest focus on Saturday will once again be on the Brixen Dolomites Marathon, which started it all in 2010. The classic still attracts the largest number of participants to the start in front of Brixen Cathedral. The 7.30 kilometer long mountain marathon starts at 42,2:2450 a.m. The destination: The summit of the local mountain, the Plose, at 29 meters above sea level. A second competition ends there, the Dolomites LadiniaTrail. The 1852 kilometer long run, with an altitude difference of around 8.30 meters, starts in the Val Badia in St. Martin in Thurn at XNUMX a.m. Athletes can also choose from the Funes Dolomites Run (22 km/385 m), which is celebrating its second edition this year. At 9 a.m. we start in St. Magdalena in Villnöß and walk across the idyllic Villnöß valley to Brixen. This race, in which the participants have to overcome 1070 meters of descent, takes place both as a competition and as a fun run. You don't need a sports doctor's certificate to take part in the non-competitive fun run, as no time is kept - it's just about having fun on the panoramic route. The mayor of Villnöß, Peter Pernthaler, is also there. 750 participants, 35 nations If you take these four routes together, the organizers already have a considerable number of participants of 750 starters who come from 35 different nations - including some exotic countries such as the Seychelles, Australia and South Africa. If you add the participants in the Women's Run Brixen, then there are almost 1300 registrations. This makes the Brixen Dolomites Marathon one of the largest running events in South Tyrol. The 4,2 km long charity run with a maximum of 500 participants, which this year calls for the fight against violence against women, will take place on Friday evening, July 1st, starting at 20 p.m. Because the women's race is being held for the 10th time this year, men are also allowed to take part as an exception. They will take a walk through the city center and thereby show their solidarity in the fight against violence against women. A children's run will take place in advance from 16 p.m.
