Brixia Meeting: Alessia Goffi wins gold in the javelin throw

The Brixia Meeting is one of the most important U18 events in Central Europe and is also a benchmark for the Italian Championships in Milan in mid-June.

Today in Brixen all eyes were on Alessia Goffi, who was one of the secret favorites in the javelin throw. The flagship of Atletica Gherdeina more than lived up to the high expectations. Goffi reached the top mark of 44.23 m in the fourth attempt and clearly beat the “Azzurra” Malinka Wojcikoski (42.78) and Annalisa Pastore (42.04) from Piedmont. Goffi missed her personal best of 45.01 m, set this season in Lana, by just 78 cm. “I am very satisfied with my performance today. Winning a meeting as important as the one here in Brixen makes me proud. This year I would like to break the 46 meter mark, that would be a great thing,” says the friendly Val Gardena native happily. Mattia Bucciarelli ended up in 7th place.

Other local athletes were also able to impress in Brixen. The Eisacktal 400 m hurdler Agata D'Angelo took eighth place, Laura Hofer from SV Lana came 10th in the high jump. For the boys, Mattia Bucciarelli crossed 3.85 m in the pole vault, which ended up in 7th place. High jumper Mattia Cruciotti (9th with 1.82 m) and 400 m hurdler Daniele Tomasi (10th in 58.96 seconds) also made it into the top ten.

Victory in the team ranking went to the selection from Veneto, which prevailed with 405 points ahead of Slovenia (385) and Bavaria (383). Huge performance by Alessia Goffi at the 39th edition of the “Brixia Meeting” in Brixen. The 16-year-old from Val Gardena won the javelin throw with a strong throw of 44.23 meters.
