Brixia Meeting: South Tyrol's talents face international competition

This year's starting field includes 17 teams, the majority of them from different regions of Italy, but also some from surrounding nations, such as the teams from Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Ticino. Italy will also - similar to Slovenia - start with a national selection, the “Italian Team”. In total, more than 800 young athletes, trainers, physiotherapists and officials move into their quarters in the Isarco Valley during the competition days.

The South Tyrolean hopefuls Among the numerous participants are South Tyrol's athletics talents, who always have a chance of reaching the podium. Above all, Alessandra Realdon, who recorded the fifth best time in her age group in the 100 meter hurdles in Italy. The relay run by the Bozen Running Club, including Mura, Brandt, Nicolodi and Realdon, is also good for a top spot. At the beginning of the month she missed the national record of 48,67 seconds by just 3 hundredths. Meanwhile, Mario Buniolo is in the spotlight for the boys. With his 11,03 seconds he is in fifth place in the Italian 100 meter ranking. In addition, high jumper Andreas Galler, long jumper Thomas Schiffregger and the U16 Italian champion over 400 meters Michael Albrecht are good for a surprise.
