Brixia Meeting: Outstanding Katja Pattis wins

All eyes were on Katja Pattis, who was one of the big favorites over 2000 obstacles. The athlete from the South Tyrol Team Club more than lived up to the high expectations. Until the final lap, the 17-year-old was in second place behind Alisa Freitag from Baden-Württemberg, then the South Tyrolean increased the pace and overtook the German in the final sprint. Pattis stopped the time measurement in 6:52.79 minutes and not only improved her own U18 national record by an impressive 13 seconds, but also set a new Brixia meeting record for the 2000 obstacle. It was also the fifth best Italian time ever recorded in the U18 category. Freitag came second in 6:56.50 minutes, third place went to Lisa Kerschbaumer (7:11.03) from Tramin.

Other local athletes were also able to impress in Brixen. The walker Valeria Buglisi from Meran took sixth place over 5 km, Beltina Kallaba from Bolzano was seventh in the shot put and 10th in the discus throw. Maddalena Melle finished the 800 m competition in eighth place, Annika Oberrauch from Eppan came 10th in the 100 m hurdles. In the boys' 400-meter hurdlers Lorenzo Bocchio made it into the top ten in eighth place and Leonardo Badolato in ninth place.

Victory in the team ranking went to the selection from Baden-Württemberg, who prevailed with 545,5 points ahead of the defending champions from Lombardy (534) and Veneto (532). South Tyrol's state selection, however, took 13th place with 268,5 points.
