Achmüller was able to pull away from his rival Martin Cox right after the start. The Brit, who used to live in Val Gardena and now lives in Switzerland, was 5:38 minutes behind at the finish, but was still fully satisfied with his performance. Third place went to Helmuth Mair from Brixen (+14:17).

The women's winner also has the same name as last year. At the finish, Edeltraud Thaler could hardly believe that, despite the heat, she was only around two minutes slower than her course record last year. "I was even faster this year on the fourth and final section, and the now 46-year-old from Lana was very proud of her performance. Thaler needed 2340:4:12 hours to climb the 11 meters in altitude. She missed the course record, but she did a record lead. The second-placed team Petra Theiner from SC Meran only crossed the finish line almost 28 minutes later. The Austrian Anita Waiss secured third place. Thaler only had to admit defeat to eleven men.

This time the winning relay team from SG Eisacktal was significantly faster than the individual skaters.
