Buglisi sisters impress in Como

The third round of the Italian Walking Championships took place on Sunday at Mariano Comense in Como, in which the Merano sisters Valeria and Sara Buglisi also took part. Both made it to the podium.

Valeria Buglisi even won the U16 3km competition with her new personal best of 15.29 minutes. The 15-year-old from Merano finished 12 and 41 seconds ahead of Elisabetta Ippoliti and Vittoria Di Dato.

Valeria's sister Sara came second in the U18 10 km competition. In summer temperatures of around 30 degrees, the walker from the Merano sports club had to admit defeat only to Martina Casiraghi from Bergamo by 25.15 seconds in 18 minutes.

This year the state championship titles will be awarded after five competitions. The first stage took place on January 28th in Grosseto, the second round took place in Rome on March 4th, the last two competitions are the Italian Track Championships and the competition in Reggio Emilia on October 2st.

Dei Tos wins among men Leonardo Dei Tos, who competes for the Athletic Club Bozen 96, took part in the men's general class race over 10 km in Mariano Comense today. The walker from Vittorio Veneto, who will be celebrating his 26th birthday in five days, won in a good 42.58 minutes.
