Cappelletti and Rampazzo win the Maddalene Sky Marathon

The winner of the Maddalene Sky Marathon 2015 is Daniele Cappelletti (Valetudo Skyrunning). The 33-year-old from Trentino, who is also one of the strongest ski mountaineers in Italy, won on Sunday in 4:42.53 hours. This put him well above Fulvio Dapit's course record (4:27.35) from 2012, but this was due to the hot temperatures. Cappelletti had to fight for victory until the end, as second-placed Maurizio Fenaroli (Kratos Team) was only 14 seconds slower. Third place went to Gil Pintarelli (Team Crazy), who reached the finish in Rumo after 4:51.48 hours. Mikhail Mamleev, who lives in South Tyrol, followed in fourth place. The Russian, who lives in Mölten, arrived after 4:57.04 hours and thus also beat the five-hour mark.

In the women's race, however, a runner from Veneto won. Silvia Rampazzo from Noale in the province of Venice crossed the finish line after 5:15.34 hours. The 2014 Italian champion was almost twelve minutes faster than Emanuela Brizio (Valetudo Skyrunning/5:27.03) in second place in the ultrasky run. As in the previous year, Edeltraud Thaler from Lanan took third place. The 49-year-old completed the 44,5-kilometer route with almost 3000 meters of elevation gain in 5:45.36 hours. Thaler is also the new regional champion, just like Cappelletti for the men.

Wegher and Gelpi win the first Maddalene Mountain Race

As the first winner of the Maddalene Mountain Race (25 km/1500 meters altitude), which was introduced this year, Simone Wegher from Trentino (Atletica Clarina Trentino) entered the chronicles of the race. He reached the finish after 2:26.03 hours and beat Riccardo Baggia (Atletica Valli di Non e Sole/2:33.13), as well as the fastest South Tyrolean, Karl Josef Höller from the Telmekom Team (2:34.16), into the places.

The winner of the mountain run is Paola Gelpi. The local hero from the Maddalene Sky Team arrived after 2:54.25 hours. Rossana Tomasi came second in 3:10.07, while Tiziana Rossi (3:22.23/Atletica Val di Non e Sole) appeared third in the winners' list. The fastest South Tyrolean over the “short” distance was Barbara Vasselai from Sarnen, who recorded a time of 3:26.37 hours.

However, Thomas Springhetti and Lorenza Bortoluzzi, both from the Maddalene Sky Team, were happy about victory in the newly introduced combined ranking of the South Tyrol Ultra Skyrace and Maddalene Sky Marathon.

A total of 250 mountain runners from seven different nations took part in the two races. “We are very satisfied with how the Maddalene Sky Marathon and the Maddalene Mountain Race went. Everything went smoothly and the athletes praised us for the good organization. We would like to pass on this praise to our many volunteers, because they are the ones who make our two runs special. We would like to thank our hearts for their great commitment - as well as our sponsors, without whose financial support we could not hold the sporting event," said OC boss Sandro Martinelli and his deputy Hubert Ungerer during the prize distribution, which also marked the conclusion of the seventh Maddalene Sky Marathons formed.

All mountain runners should mark Sunday, August 28, 2016 in red on their calendar. It is the day on which the eighth edition of the Maddalene Sky Marathon and the second of the Maddalene Mountain Race will take place. Because the slightly shorter route more than proved its worth at this year's premiere.

Cappelletti and Rampazzo win the Maddalene Sky Marathon

In wonderful summer weather, the seventh edition of the Maddalene Sky Marathon (44,5 km/2905 meters in altitude) and the premiere of the Maddalene Mountain Race (25 km/1500 m in altitude) took place in the Non Valley on Sunday. There were favorites wins throughout.
