Cavalleri and Pattis start at the European Championships

The U13 European Athletics Championships will take place in Bydgoszcz from Thursday, July 16th to Sunday, July 23th. Italy is sending 84 athletes to Poland's eighth largest city, 43 men and 41 women. The 400 m hurdler Valentina Cavalleri is the only South Tyrolean in the squad.

The 21-year-old from San Candido, who runs for the army sports group, will compete in the 56.73 m hurdles together with the exceptional athlete Ayomide Folorunso (23) and the current U58.11 Italian champion Rebecca Sartori (400). This year Cavalleri set a new personal best in Bolzano with an excellent time of 58.08 seconds. She also stayed under the minute mark in all six races of the season. At the weekend, Cavalleri narrowly missed a podium place at the Italian Championships in Trieste, finishing fourth.

Daniel Pattis called up for the European Mountain Running Championships The Italian Athletics Federation has also announced the squad for the European Mountain Runner Championships on Saturday, July 8th in Kamnik. Daniel Pattis is also there.

A total of 16 “Azzurri” are allowed to travel to Slovenia, where the international title fight will take place - including 19-year-old Daniel Pattis from Tiers, who competes for the South Tyrol Team Club. He is one of four "Azzurri" who will tackle the U20 race in Kamnik. In addition to Pattis, the squad includes Matteo Bonzi (Atletica Valle Brembana), Andrea Prandi (Atletica Alta Valtellina) and Andrea Rostan (Atletica Saluzzo). Last year, Pattis took a strong fourth place in the individual competition at the U20 European Mountain Running Championships in Arco. He made a significant contribution to the Italian selection winning silver in the team competition.
