Italian Cross Country Championships: Silvia Weissteiner takes bronze

Around 2000 athletes from 236 clubs took part in Fiuggi. The fastest day in the general class women's race (8 km) was Kenya's Hellen Jepkurgat in 27.21 minutes, ahead of Claudette Mukasakindi from Rwanda (27.47). Sara Dossena became third and new Italian champion in 27.59 minutes. The triathlete from Lombardy prevailed with a lead of 7 seconds over Federica Dal Ri and 17 seconds over Silvia Weissteiner. The woman from Wipptal took bronze, and Agnes Tschurtschenthaler from Sexten came in excellent sixth, 33 seconds behind Dossena. Andrea Lalli won the men's title. The “Azzurro”, who was European cross country champion in 2012, covered the 10 km distance in 29.55 minutes. Markus Ploner from ASV Vipiteno ended up in 2.30th place, 37 minutes behind.

Daniel Pattis took sixth place in the U18 age group In the youth categories, Daniel Pattis' sixth place in the U18 age group stands out. Anna Stefani from Vipiteno, who starts for the forest guard, came seventh in the U23, while Sophia Zingerle from SG Eisacktal took 18th in the U10.

16th place for the South Tyrol team in the U16 region trophy The U16 regional trophy also took place in Fiuggi at the weekend. Lombardy was unbeatable, winning both the men's and women's competitions and of course the combination ahead of Lazio and Piedmont. South Tyrol didn't get past 16th place. In the end, the women finished 13th, while the men's South Tyrol came 18th. The best individual result was achieved by Emma Elisabeth Garber from the Merano Sports Club with 22nd place.
