The Top7 final takes place on Sunday at the half marathon in the three communities

“This year, our running series has almost all achieved new participant records. This is proof of the importance the Top7 running series now has,” said OC boss Andrea Isoppo. The top 7 overall winners are traditionally chosen in Branzoll. Last year, two top runners, Said Boudalia and Agnes Tschurtschenthaler, won. The relatively fast course in the triangle between Branzoll, Leifers and Pfatten always attracts strong runners. Last year, the organizing team, SV Branzoll, set a record number of participants with 311 runners.

The starting signal for the 21.097 km long classic will be given at 10 a.m. in the Galizien sports zone in Laives, half an hour later than usual. The route leads south via Branzoll to the heights of Auer. Cross the Laimburg Bridge in a northerly direction to Pfatten, where an intermediate sprint takes place at km 15,9. The destination is in front of the town hall in Branzoll.

Among the previous winners of the half marathon in the three communities are well-known names such as Roland Weissteiner, Christian Leuprecht, Armin Mayr, Gerd Frick or the Trentino ex-mountain running world champion Antonio Molinari and Said Boudalia for men and Renate Rungger, Helga Rauch and Simona Viola for women. Last year, state record holder Agnes Tschurtschenthaler won her first half marathon in Branzoll straight away and in record time. Record winners are Renate Rungger, Rosy Pattis, Gerd Frick, Said Boudalia and Manfred Premstaller with three triumphs each.

In the fight for the top 7 overall ranking, Michael Burger and Petra Pircher (both Rennerclub Vinschgau) are on the verge of overall victory. Burger - third in this year's Reschenseelauf - is 187 points ahead of three-time season winner Hannes Rungger. While the man from Sarn has only taken part in four races so far, Burger took part in all six. With 43rd place, the Vinschger could make everything clear. Petra Pircher is on the verge of her third overall victory among women. The 39-year-old from Laas leads 87 points ahead of Andrea Schweigkofler from SC Meran. To be on the safe side, Pircher has to finish in the top three. In the fight for overall victory, a runner must have taken part in at least five top 7 races. There are no cancellation results.
