The Athletic Club 96 Bozen triumphs at the “Finale Oro”.

The twelve best teams in Italy competed against each other in Jesolo. The title went to Atletica Riccardi Milano with 106 points ahead of Benevento (94), Rieti (77) and the Bolzano club, which scored 67 points and made it into the top ten for the first time. The Athletic Club 96 has been taking part in the national finals continuously since 2005. This year, Bolzano competed in the highest class, the “Finale Oro”, for the fourth time after 2007, 2010 and 2014 and not only managed to stay in the league for the first time, but even finished in an excellent fourth place.

Menz and Da Tos celebrate two individual victories And this despite the fact that the people of Bolzano had to do without their big star, Paolo Dal Molin. The vice-European champion over 60m hurdles is still injured. Nevertheless, the Athletic Club achieved two daily victories and a total of six podium places. Leonardo Da Tos won the 10 km walk competition and Manfred Menz won the pole vault. The Meraner jumped 5,00 m and won ahead of Matteo Rubbiani (4.80m). Second places went to discus thrower Daniel Compagno with 53.47 m and Abdessalam Machmach over 800 m in 1:55.24 minutes. Marco Dodoni, on the other hand, took third place in the shot put with 16.26 m, as did Daudi Makalla over 1500 m in 3:49.69 minutes. Isalbet Juarez narrowly missed the podium in the 400 m (48.59) and Michele Ongarato in the hammer throw (60.41 m). Both had to be content with 4th place.
