The Athletic Club wants its 17th regional championship title

The “Gold” final, featuring the best twelve teams in Italy, will be held in Florence on June 15th and 16th. The Bolzano club Athletic Club 96 also hopes to be there.

Last year, President Bruno Telchini's team finished the “Finale Oro” in an excellent third place. This was Bolzano's best result ever, after fourth place four years ago. At national level, over 500 clubs are once again taking part in the team championship. In Trentino-South Tyrol, the regional title fights will take place this weekend in the state capital. For men, Athletic Club 96 Bozen is the defending champion. For the Talferstadt team, another win would be their 17th in a row.

Athletic Club 96 Bozen will feature almost all of its stars. Several “Azzurri” are running for the Bolzano club. Paolo Dal Molin will complete the 110m hurdles. Sprinter ace Jacques Riparelli, on the other hand, will compete in the 100 and 200 m, while 21-year-old Brayan Lopez, an integral part of the Italian national team, will compete in the 400 m and relay events. Merano's Manfred Menz and homegrown Nicolò Fusaro compete in the pole vault, Abdessalam Machmach, one of the strongest middle-distance runners, competes in the 800 and 1500 m. Khalid Jbari completes the 5000 m, while the two throwers Marco Dodoni and Hubert Göller test themselves in the shot put and javelin throw. Also taking part is 19-year-old Aberto Masera from Bolzano, who has a record of 2.15 m in the high jump. The second qualifying round of the team championship will take place on June 1st and 2nd in Imola.

The Athletic Club wants its 17th regional championship title

On Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May the first phase of the 18 Athletics Team Championship will be held in 2019 regions of Italy. The teams are aiming for the regional championship title and qualification for one of the four national finals.
