Florence Griffith-Joyner's record is shaky

At an athletics meeting in Eugene (USA), Jamaican Elaine Thompson-Herah ran 10,54 seconds to within five hundredths of a second of the 33-meter world record that has stood for 100 years. Our columnist Sigi Heinrich, like so many, is trying to understand the enormity of this year's super times and is plagued by doubts.

33 years ago, Florence Griffith-Joyner ran 10.49 seconds at the US track and field finals in Indianapolis for the Seoul Olympics. The first diva of track and field, as she liked to be called, had set a record that seemed to be made for eternity. Now her name is being talked about again.
