The Soltn mountain half marathon casts its shadow ahead

The Soltn mountain half marathon is the only half marathon in South Tyrol away from traffic noise. The organizers of ASV Jenesien Soltnflitzer and President Sepp Rungaldier are proud of this. The run on the Salten is pure running enjoyment. This has also reached the exceptional talents.

The six-time mountain running world champion Jonathan Wyatt has already triumphed twice at Salten. Wyatt wasn't the only world champion to win on Salten. The names of former world champion Antonio Molinari and former European champion Marco Gaiardo are also on the winner's board. In 2011, the Soltn mountain half marathon was part of the Top7 running series for the first time. Since then, the number of participants has steadily increased. Last year, 313 runners reached the finish. There are signs of another increase in participants for the 20th anniversary of SV Jenesien Soltnflitzer.

The Soltn mountain half marathon has been running for twelve years. It emerged from the mountain run from Jenesien to the Möltner Kaser (five editions). The record winners are Wyatt, Molinari and Hannes Rungger with two successes each. In the women's category, Olympic medalist Antonella Confortola is the only one to have won three times. Renate Rungger would have liked to stop these three successes. But the defending champion was running a 10.000 m run on the track the day before the mountain half marathon in Lazio and therefore had to cancel.

This puts Edeltraud Thaler, Top7 overall leader and winner at Salten 2011, in the role of favorite. In the men's category, Hannes Rungger would like to be the first to win for the third time. Emanuele Manzi, winner in 2009, has also already confirmed. For Rungger it is also about a preliminary decision in the fight for the top 7 overall victory. It will be interesting to see which other mountain running stars will come to the Salten.

The start takes place at the Jenesien sports field at 1226 m above sea level. From there the route leads to the highest point near the Langfenn church (1527 m) and along a different route back to the starting point. A total of 520 meters of altitude have to be overcome. “The panorama of the larch meadows is unique and popular with runners from near and far,” says OC boss Sepp Rungaldier. According to the motto "Shared effort, double enjoyment", the 21,1 km long route can also be run in relays of two. The change takes place after 10,6 km in Langfenn.

The half marathon starts at 10 a.m., the relays start ten minutes later. A winner's check of 500 euros awaits the winner of the half marathon for men and women. The event surrounding the Soltn mountain half marathon begins on Saturday at 14.30 p.m. with the cycling race from Bolzano to Jenesien (start at the valley station of the Jenesenier cable car, approx. 10 km, 900 m above sea level).
