The South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run is coming of age this year

It is probably the unique backdrop of the Sesto Dolomites that attracts 1000 mountain runners to the South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run every year. After the exertions on the 17,5 kilometer long route, which is also demanding in this respect at 1350 meters in altitude, you will be richly rewarded at the finish at the Drei Zinnen Hut with a fantastic view of the three mountain pillars of the Drei Zinnen that rise majestically into the sky.

The route takes the participants after starting at the parking lot at Haus Sexten and a lap through the village center of the well-known tourist destination in the Alta Pusteria to Moos. The athletes run through the lush green larch meadows of the “Fischleintal” to the Fischleinboden hut and on to the valley end hut. Shortly after the valley end hut (at km 8,2) at the Bacherntal-Altensteinertal crossroads, turn left towards the Zsigmondyhütte.

17,5 kilometers of mountain enjoyment

From here a selective serpentine path leads to the Zsigmondyhütte and then on to the Büllelejochhütte at 2575 meters above sea level. “This is certainly one of the most challenging, if not the most challenging section of the route. “Here you can gain a lot of time on your competitors – or lose it,” says OK boss Gottfried Hofer, who and his team have been guaranteeing the perfect running of the renowned South Tyrolean mountain run for many years.

From here, the grand finale of the South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run awaits the athletes: from the Büllelejochhütte the route goes in front of the Paternkofel, above the Lake Constance, over the last three kilometers to the finish at the Drei Zinnen Hütte (2405 meters above sea level).

Jonathan Wyatt from New Zealand and the Swiss Victoria Kreuzer won the 17th edition of the South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run in September 2014. While the Swiss won for the first time, it was already the sixth success for probably the best mountain runner of all time.

Number of participants limited to 1000, high-quality racing package

As in previous years, the number of participants this year is limited to 1000 runners. The entry fee is 12 euros until June 50th. After that, registration costs 4 euros until September 60th, and a participation fee of 5 euros must be paid from September 11th to 75th.

Each participant receives a high-quality racing package. It includes a high-quality item from the Skinfit brand, various quality products from South Tyrol, the start number with chip, transport of clothes from the start area to the finish, five refreshment points on the route and in the finish area, a photo service, the finisher medal and entry to the pasta party with award ceremony, which takes place on Saturday afternoon at 17 p.m.

On Sunday, at the end of the well-known Sesto sports event for tomorrow's mountain runners, there will be the 11th Mini Drei Zinnen Alpine Run. Children and young people up to the age of 18 are allowed to take part.
