Olympic champions, world record holders, world and European champions: The list of top athletes who have competed in the BOclassic South Tyrol at least once in their career is very long. It was often the case that her star shone really brightly for the first time on, of all places, Bolzano's Waltherplatz. Together, the strongest participants have won over 44 medals at major international events over the past 230 years. No wonder that the BOclassic South Tyrol is one of the best-attended New Year's Eve races in the world.

“That will also be the case in 2019, because our athlete manager Gianni Demadonna has once again done a great job in the run-up to our well-known running event. I can announce two top stars who are coming to Bolzano: They are Yemaneberhan Crippa and Margaret Chelimo Kibkemboi,” revealed Christof Brandt, President of the organizing runners Club Bozen Raiffeisen, during the media event.

Will Crippa ensure the first win for an Azzurro since 1988? Yemaneberhan Crippa is the undisputed crowd favorite at BOclassic Südtirol. And he may be the first Italian to win, 31 years after Salvatore Antibo's victory in Bolzano. Crippa impressively demonstrated his strength a few months ago at the World Athletics Championships in Doha when he set a new Italian record in the 10.000 meters in 27.10,76:XNUMX.

The European Championship bronze medalist over 10.000 meters has competed in the Bolzano New Year's Eve run every year since 2015. The 23-year-old from Trentino's best result in South Tyrol's capital is fourth place from 2017, when the great Muktar Edris won.
