The running season begins with a premiere

It starts on Sunday, March 26th with a premiere. The Kaltererseelauf has only been around since this year. Although it has a famous predecessor, the Under Armor Kalterer See Half Marathon, the route has been completely redesigned. Now the starting signal is given on the Tramin town hall square, from where the Kalterer See circuit is tackled before heading back to Tramin in the south. Like its predecessor, the Kaltererseelauf is also part of the top 7 running series. The same applies to the second highlight of the season. On Saturday, May 13th we're going to Trentino, more precisely to Mezzocorona. The Teroldego event takes place there, which has joined the Top7 running series for the first time and whose boundaries are now moving to Trentino. The half marathon, named after the local red wine variety Teroldego, covers the entire Rotaliana plain up to Mezzolombardo and Roverè della Luna. Almost three weeks later, another Top7 newcomer rises. The Cortina Toblach Run also appears for the first time in the calendar of the renowned running series, which now includes nine stages instead of seven. As the name suggests, on Sunday, June 4th, the race goes from Cortina d'Ampezzo across the Dolomites to Toblach, where the finish line awaits after 30 kilometers in the park of the Grand Hotel. From the valleys to the mountains We have already arrived in summer and can escape the heat in the valley - either with a jump into the cool water - or by running at higher altitudes. And that's exactly where the running circus is headed, as the mountain running season is about to begin. It starts with the Ratschings Mountain Trails on Sunday June 18th, where you run from the valley station of the Ratschings-Jaufen ski area along the impressive mountains of the Ridnaun Valley. Exactly two weeks later, the next Top7 stage is on the agenda. The Seiser Alm Half Marathon is also a newcomer to the running series. On Sunday, July 700nd, 2 participants will tackle the 21 kilometers and 601 meters in altitude and at the same time enjoy the idyllic atmosphere on one of the most famous high plateaus in the Alpine region. On Sunday August 6th things will go high. In the Hinter Passeier Valley, the Stettiner Cup is on the racing calendar, which runs from the parking lot in Pfelders to the Stettiner Hütte at 2875 meters above sea level. The participants have to overcome a whopping 1200 meters of altitude on the almost ten kilometer long route, which shows that this run is something for die-hard mountain running fans. The South Tyrol Ultrarace is celebrating its first anniversary One of the summer highlights is on the program at the end of August and attracts hundreds of mountain runners to the Sarntal. The South Tyrol Ultrarace, one of the best-known and certainly toughest running events in the entire racing calendar, will take place from August 25th to 27th. The original distance of the event, the South Tyrol Ultrarace, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Its route details are quite impressive: 119 kilometers, 7850 meters in altitude and all of this along the Sarner Horseshoe Tour, which takes you over hill and dale, along narrow mountain ridges and to one or two peaks. At the same time, the next race in the Top7 running series will take place in another part of South Tyrol. During the South Tyrolean Erdäpfllauf on Saturday, August 26th, the route leads from the center of Bruneck to Sand in Taufers at the beginning of the Ahrntal. In the seventh stage of the series, the decisive points in the overall standings are slowly being decided. The classic at the foot of the Three Peaks In September the mountain running summer ends with another classic. The Drei Zinnen Alpine Run climbs with one of the most famous mountain backdrops in the Dolomites in the background, the Drei Zinnen. The popular mountain run attracts 1000 participants to the Sesto Dolomites, including some of the best runners in the scene. This will also be the case on Saturday, September 9th, when the starting signal for the 26th edition is given at Haus Sexten. With the Soltn mountain half marathon on Sunday, September 24th, not only the 2023 running season, but also the Top7 series enters its final offensive. The penultimate stage takes place on the high plateau above the South Tyrolean capital Bolzano, which starts and ends at the riding arena in Jenesien. There are around 21 kilometers to cover across the lush green alpine meadows of Salten. The final point is the AgeFactor Run in Branzoll on Saturday, October 21st. It is one of the most special races of the season because, unlike the usual races, it is not the fastest person who wins in the lowlands. The time of each participant is calculated using an age-dependent factor. At the end, the slightly older runners also have a very good chance of climbing onto the highest podium at the award ceremony.
