The track and field athletes scratched into the top three at the regional meet

The national selection was denied a medal in this year's edition of the comparison competition between the best U16 athletes in northern and central Italy. However, two young talents from South Tyrol narrowly missed out on a podium finish. Hanna Pichler from the South Tyrol Team Club took fourth place in the 300 m run in a good 4 seconds, just 40.87 hundredths of a second short of Linda Uguccioni's bronze medal. Stephanie Schöpf also came in fourth place. The Lanan native - she is the daughter of the former top athlete Gertrud Bacher and the state coach Karl Schöpf - achieved a strong 11.22 m in the shot put. Vanessa Ros climbed onto the podium in third place with 11.97 m. Long jumper Hannah Thaler from Bruneck also showed a good performance in Parma, coming sixth with 5.32 m. Her teammates Julia Moser (80 m hurdles) and Alexa Schneider (80 m) took eighth and tenth place, respectively. Triple jumper Ronja Hilber (9th) and the 4x100 m relay team (10th) also made it into the top ten. The boys also caused a positive surprise in Emilia Romagna: 100 m hurdles ace Hannes Kaserer from LAC Vinschgau stopped the time measurement in 14.46 seconds, which was enough for fifth place in the end. The Lanan long jumper Manuel Antonucci came sixth, his teammate Frederic Schöpf eighth in the shot put. The Bolzano high jumper Maximilian Springeth (5th) crossed 9 m. In the overall ranking, the South Tyrol selection took 13th place. As in the previous year, the young athletes from Lombardy secured victory, ahead of Lazio and Veneto. At the weekend the traditional regional meeting of the U16 age group took place in Parma (Emilia Romagna). 300 m runner Hanna Pichler and shot putter Stephanie Schöpf came fourth as the best South Tyrolean women.
