The top athletics talents meet in Brixen

Due to the Corona pandemic, the formula for the Brixia Meeting will change slightly this year. In order to avoid complications, this time it is not a meeting for regional selections, but rather a top meeting at the highest level, to which each club registers its athletes individually. In total, almost 200 young athletes will move into their quarters in the Isarco Valley during the competition day. The South Tyrolean hopefuls Among the numerous participants there are also some South Tyrolean athletics talents who have a chance of reaching the podium. Last year the event had to be canceled due to corona, but in 2019 the local athletes won two medals. Animal trainer Katja Pattis won the 2000 obstacle and even set a new Brixia meeting record in 6:52.79 minutes. Third place went to another South Tyrolean, Lisa Kerschbaumer from Tramin. Both are no longer there this year. Several South Tyroleans will be fighting for a top position on Sunday from 12 p.m. People are particularly excited about Euan De Nigro's performance. The 17-year-old triathlete from SG Eisacktal is taking part in the 1500 m run in Brixen, where he is registered with the top time of 3:59.20 minutes. Simon Federer is also aiming for a podium finish. The flagship of the KSV athletics is registered third in the 200 m (22.71), and he could also cause a surprise in the 100 m sprint. Marie Burger has the best chance of a top placement among the women. The woman from Vahrn from SSV Brixen has the second fastest time in the 100 m hurdles (14.27 seconds), behind Matilde Carboncini (14.23) from Tuscany. Greta Chizzali can also do a lot. The athlete from Laion and from SG Eisacktal is one of the favorites over 2000 obstacles, just like Anna Hofer from Rabland over 1500 m. The top athletics talents meet in Brixen

Next Sunday the international competition “Brixia Meeting” will be held in Brixen for the 38th time. This event is one of the most important U18 events in Central Europe.
