The Top7 series is canceled early

The BOclassic Ladurner fun run could still be carried out properly on New Year's Eve. A little more than five months ago, Hannes Perkmann from Sarn and Marlene Windisch from Germany won the first stage of the 7 Top2020 running series. In the following weeks, however, the coronavirus spread rapidly from China to Europe - with immediate consequences for the sports world and therefore also for the Top7 running series. The Italian government canceled all events until July 31st and as a result, the Under Armor Kalterer See half marathon, which was on the program on March 31st, and the Meran - Algund half marathon on May 10th were immediately canceled. The Raiffeisen ¾ half marathon from Bruneck to Sand in Taufers on August 22nd and the Soltn mountain half marathon on September 27th have already been canceled because regular running would not have been possible. The Reschensee Run – a real participant magnet with over 4000 athletes – also cannot be carried out in its usual form. However, the organizers around OK boss Gerald Burger are organizing a special edition on Saturday, July 18th, making the Reschenseelauf the first major event after the shutdown in which participants can freely choose their start time. This means that gatherings of people, which are prohibited until further notice, can be avoided and the South Tyrolean running festival can take place - albeit in a slightly different form - and all amateur athletes can run the 15,3 km long running route around the largest lake in South Tyrol enjoy. The organizers want to get started again in 2021 The Top7 running series also includes the Age Factor Run (October 24th). The organizing committee will decide whether and in what form this autumn “classic” will take place depending on the latest developments regarding Covid-19 and possible further relaxations in the next few weeks. “Of course we would have liked to have carried out the Top7 series for our 15th birthday. But if the majority of the events don't take place, then you can no longer speak of a series and the overall result would no longer be meaningful. Those participants who registered for all seven races this year will be credited with the fees for 2021. We are very confident that we will be able to run our popular circuit properly again next year and will certainly do everything we can to ensure that all athletes from home and abroad experience unforgettable hours in South Tyrol and benefit from our professionalism and at the same time family atmosphere can convince,” the seven organizers conclude. The successors to Gianmarco Bazzoni (Athletic Club Alperia 96) and Natalie Andersag (ASC Berg) – overall winner of the Top7 running series 2019 – will therefore be determined next year.
