Village running series 2015: Bazzoni and Pircher win the final

There were ten tour stops this year, one more than last year, in the VSS/RVD city and village running series. The grand finale took place on Sunday in Niederdorf. Even though the weather wasn't at its best - it rained in the Pustertal before and after the races - the around 260 runners put in some strong performances. Above all, Petra Pircher for the women and Gianmarco Bazzoni for the men: They ensured great sport in Niederdorf with clear victories.

Petra Pircher pulled ahead in the first of three laps in the women's race. The woman from Lasa, who has a strong season this year, finally won after 3.450 meters in a time of 13:46 minutes. Inge Giuliani (ASC Berg) took second place, around a minute behind. The podium was completed by Mirka Lorenzani (ASC Laas), who was able to hold her own in the finish sprint against Manuela Perathoner (Gherdeina Runners).

For the men, Gianmarco Bazzoni (Athletic Club 96) set the pace from the start. After the second of a total of five laps, Daniel Hackhofer, the only remaining pursuer, finally had to give up. In the end, Bazzoni won clearly in 18:42 minutes and a total of 26 seconds ahead of Hackhofer. Gabriel Karnutsch (SV Mölten) took third place in 19:43 minutes.

In the team ranking, ASC Laas was clearly ahead in both the daily and final rankings after ten runs. The athletes from Vinschgau collected over 18.000 points throughout the entire running series this year. Including the trial category, around 900 different runners from all parts of the country and age groups took part in the popular VSS running series.

Village running series 2015: Bazzoni and Pircher win the final

Around 260 runners didn't want to miss the final of the 36th VSS/RVD city and village running series in Niederdorf and created a great atmosphere despite the wet and cold weather. The day's victories went to Petra Pircher and Gianmarco Bazzoni. The team ranking once again went to ASC Laas.
