Dreizinnenlauf: Preparations are in full swing - VIDEO

The preparations by OK boss Gottfried Hofer and his well-rehearsed team are in full swing a little more than a month before the starting signal for the South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run. No wonder: As in previous years, everything should go smoothly in the 17,5 kilometer long mountain run with an altitude difference of 1350 meters. After all, the perfect organization is one of the seals of quality of the sporting event in Sexten, which will take the runners through the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site.

1000 participants are expected this year too; more than 600 from 15 different nations have already registered. “This means we have around 200 more enrollees compared to the same period last year. “We are of course pleased about this advance of trust from the mountain runners from all over the world who will come to the Dreizinnenlauf in Sexten on September 13th,” explains OC boss Gottfried Hofer.

Olympic feeling under the Three Peaks Hofer is particularly pleased about the naming of two local Olympic medal winners. With Lukas Hofer and Dominik Windisch, two biathletes from the successful mixed relay (the quartet won bronze in Sochi) venture onto the very beautiful and demanding running course. “And who knows, maybe her colleagues Dorothea Wierer and Karin Oberhofer will also be at the start,” hopes OK boss Hofer.

Of course, other athletes will run for victory. The seven-time winner Jonathan Wyatt from New Zealand is also there again, as is the mountain running world champion from 2012 and last year's winner, Petro Mamo from Eritrea. Renate Rungger from Sarnen won the women's race last September and would like to do the same this year.

Extensive supporting program But the South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run is not only first-class from a sporting perspective, the supporting program is also very extensive and diverse. The dumpling party will take place on Friday, September 12th from 18 p.m. Starting numbers will be handed out at Haus Sexten from 13 p.m., where the runners' expo also takes place. From 20.30:21.30 p.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m., Valentina Vecelio will give a lecture on the topic of “Running away from cancer” at the invitation of the Hochpustertaler Krebshilfe. This year the organizers are donating one euro per participant to the local cancer charity.

On Saturday, September 13th, the focus will of course be on the South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run itself, which starts at 10 a.m. Carbohydrate tanks will be refilled at the traditional pasta party from 13.30 p.m. The award ceremony will take place at 16 p.m., while the big Ö20 disco will take place from 3 p.m. The three-day mountain running event will conclude on Sunday, September 14th with the 10th Mini Drei Zinnen Alpine Run for children and young people up to the age of 18.
