Egger and Castellani take the village run victory in Oberwielenbach

Oberwielenbach was the venue for the traditional village run for the 22rd time. A total of 320 athletes took part in very good weather conditions. Since the race in Pustertal is also part of the East Tyrolean Raiffeisen Runners' Cup, there were also some runners from East Tyrol among the participants.

In the men's field, Simon Egger from Jenesien triumphed, completing the 6.600 meter long circuit in a good 25.55 minutes. Ultra-long-distance specialist Alexander Rabensteiner from SG Eisacktal came in second, eight seconds behind. Alex Holtz from Full Sport Meran completed the podium with a time of 26.14 minutes.

In the women's race, 31-year-old Isadora Castellani from Veneto, who runs for ALV Eppan, was unbeatable. She covered the distance of 3.950 meters in 16.33 minutes and relegated last year's winner Elena Casaro to second place by 12 seconds. Maria Rabeinsteiner from ASV Freienfeld took third place.

As was the case at the start of the village run, victory in the team ranking went to Vinschgau. The ASC Laas prevailed with 1584 points ahead of the local heroes ASV Oberwielenbach (1263 points) and LG Hochpustertal (881 points). The VSS village and city running series will continue in a month, on June 2nd in Mals, with the track run.

Egger and Castellani take the village run victory in Oberwielenbach

The second of eight races in the 2017 VSS village and city running series took place in Oberwielenbach on Monday. Simon Egger from ASV Jenesien and Isadora Castellani from Veneto won the day.
