South Tyrolean athletes impress in Padua and Rovereto

At the indoor meeting in Padua, 20-year-old long jumper Anna Menz achieved a strong 5.86 m. The Marlingen woman, who is studying in Florence and has been competing for the Firenze Marathon since this year, was only beaten by the Swiss Irene Pusterla (6.19 m). In addition, Menz improved her previous indoor record, set last week in Modena, by an impressive 22 centimeters. The Lanan pole vault ace Nathalie Kofler jumped 3.80 m again, U18 young ace Anna Di Giovanni from Athletic Club 96 Bozen reached 1.80 m in the high jump. Her teammate Farias Zin also showed a strong performance over 60 m, finishing among 195 starters in 6.92 seconds could prevail.

However, an international cross-country race took place in Villagarina near Rovereto. From a South Tyrolean perspective, the youth races were once again the focus. In the U16 category, Rablander Anna Hofer from SC Meran won the 2 km race in 7.29 minutes, while Laura Markart from Vipiteno came third. In the boys' race, which was won by young Trentino hopeful Francesco Ropelato, Ivan Domenici from Bolzano came a good second.

The South Tyrolean athletes were at the top in the U18 competitions. Lisa Kerschbaumer from Tramin, who also starts for SC Meran, won ahead of the Czech Tereza Placatkova and Greta Chizzali (SG Eisacktal) from Laion. Immediately behind them were the two Merano women Emily Vucemillo and Nike Frick in 4th and 5th place.

Paolo Rossi from AS Merano won among the boys. Angelo Nobile's protégé won over the 4,2 km long route in 13.58 minutes. Samuel Demetz from Val Gardena and the two runners from SG Eisacktal, Euan De Nigro and Sebastian Weissteiner, came in 5th, 6th and 7th.

In the general class men's race, Tiers mountain running specialist Daniel Pattis came ninth as the best South Tyrolean. His younger sister Katja took 8th place in the women's race (3rd place in the junior ranking). Her new teammate at the South Tyrol Team Club, Hannes Perkmann from Sarner, ended up in 11th position.
