Emma Garber second in cross country championships

120.000 students took part in the elimination races of this Italian cross country championship. 446 made it to the final in Cesentico. In the U14 age group (born in 2001 and 2002), the 2nd and 3rd grades of middle school were allowed to start, while in the U17 age group (born in 1998, 1999 and 2000) the first three grades of the high school were allowed to start. In the middle school girls, Emma Garber only had to admit defeat to Francesca Gianolo in the sprint. Rebekka Kronbichler from Bruneck, however, took 25rd place, 23 seconds behind. The boys' 2km race went to Francesco Niccol Calì from Modena in 6.11 minutes. Klausner middle school student Kevin Mair came in 5th place, three seconds behind. Matthias Unterkofler from Gries Middle School finished the run in 16th place (6:33).

Daniel Pattis misses medal by two seconds In the U17 age group, Daniel Pattis narrowly missed out on a podium place. The Bolzano high school student had to settle for fourth place in 7.33 minutes, just two seconds behind the silver medalist Sebastiano Parolini from Alzano Lombardo and the bronze medalist Alberto Dal Sasso from Feltre. Sergiy Polikarpenko from Piedmont became Italian champion. For the high school girls, however, Ludovica Cavalli from Genoa is the new Italian champion. Sophia Tobanelli from the Mals Sports High School took 15th place as the best South Tyrolean. The two high school students from Bolzano, Hanna Raffeiner and Stefanie Auer, also made it into the top 20.

Gold and bronze for secondary school/geometric school in Bozen

Among the high school students, the Realgymnasium/Geometric School Bozen won gold for the boys, ahead of Turin and Chieti, and bronze for the girls. Bruneck took fourth place among the middle school students.
