Engl and Pattis are U18 cross country champions

The focus of the cross-country race in Überetsch was the U18 competitions. Lukas Engl from SSV Bruneck and Katja Pattis from the Südtirol Team Club won this. Engl clearly won ahead of Peter Costadedoi and Leo Gargitter on the 5 km long route in 18.08 minutes. In the girls' race, Tiersin Pattis put the two runners from SC Meran, Martina Falchetti and Emma Garber, in their place over 3 km.

The boys' U16 title went to AS Meran. Paolo Rossi finished the run in 9.27 minutes and was only two seconds faster than Sebastian Weissteiner. Samuel Demetz from Val Gardena came third. Local hero Lisa Kerschbaumer won the women’s event. The SC Meran athlete, who competed for ASC Berg last year, was able to hold her own in front of Greta Chizzali and her teammate Maddalena Melle.

As in the previous year, Ivan Domenici from Bolzano came out on top in the U14 category ahead of Valentino Melle and Tommaso Bortoli from Merano. The new U14 national champion is Pia Fischer from SG Eisacktal. Places 2 and 3 went to Lisa Leuprecht from Lana and Fischer's teammate Victoria Dorfmann.

There were also many young talents at the start in Oberplanitzing. Magnus Hesse, Katharina Feichter, Elisa Hofer, Eva Schrott, Alex Lageder and Klara Haselrieder secured their age categories. Next weekend, in addition to the spring cross in Kaltern, the Italian Cross Championships will also take place in Gubbio.

Engl and Pattis are U18 cross country champions

On Sunday, the first national championship titles of the new year were awarded in Oberplanitzing as part of the fourth edition of the “Georgs-Turm-Cross”. 113 athletes from the U8 to U18 age groups took part.
