Favorite victories at the 10th Brixen Dolomites Marathon

With the participation of Andreas Reiterer, as well as the past winners Matteo Lucchese, Tariq Bamaarouf and Hannes Rungger, everything was in place for a superlative run. After the start, Reiterer, Lucchese, Bamaarouf and Rungger also separated themselves from the competition. But Reiterer subsequently caught up, overtook the defending champion from the province of Forlì and won the renowned mountain marathon in 3:38.44 hours, 1.19 minutes ahead of Lucchese. Marco Menegardi from Castiglione delle Stiviere completed the podium (3:56.09). Rungger fell back to fifth place behind Martin Griesser from Freienfeld. “It's just huge and I'm really happy. “Everything just worked out today,” said day’s winner Reiterer at the finish.

For the women, SG Eisacktal provided a gala: with winner Doris Weissteiner, who won in 5:06.22, as well as Renate PramSoler and Tanja Plaikner, three athletes from the host club took the entire podium. The first non-South Tyrolean, namely the Czech Katerina Kovac, followed in fourth place. “Today I was at the start for the fifth time. Weather wise it was the nicest edition. Personally, I struggled like never before in this run. In the end it was enough,” said the 3-year-old from Klausen.

The team Forest Gams, which consisted of Martin Mayrhofer, Marialuise Rabensteiner, Alexander Rabensteiner and Andreas Öhler, won the four-man relay. The quartet covered the 42,195 kilometers with 2450 meters of altitude in 3:54.48 hours. The fastest team of two, however, was Matthias Schwingshackl/Bernhard Taschler, who were there as Team Yusuf and crossed the finish line after 4:17.50 hours.

Pellegrini/Rabensteiner do justice to their role as favorites To mark its 10th birthday, the organizers led by OK boss Christian Jocher and OK president Claudio Zorzi have introduced two new runs this year. In the Dolomites Ultra Trail, which had to be completed in teams of two after the start at midnight on Domplatz, the top favorites Jimmy Pellegrini/Alexander Rabensteiner prevailed after 81 kilometers and over 4700 meters of altitude in 10:49.46 hours. Behind them, Josef Blasbichler/Konrad Eisenstecken and Reinhold Schwienbacher/Josef Thaler ended up in honorary positions. The destination was also on Cathedral Square and therefore in the heart of Brixen's old town.

The Swedish orienteer David Lingfors, who is currently in the Dolomites and took part in the new trail run for training purposes, won the 28-kilometer-long LadiniaTrail starting in St. Martin in Thurn and finishing on the Plose. His winning time was 2:57.04 hours. Paul Willeit from Bruneck and Thomas Guadagnini from Trentino took second and third place. In the women's category, local hero Heidi Dapunt from Val Badia triumphed in 2:3 ahead of Ilaria Pedri and Rosmarie Psenner. The organizers draw a very positive conclusion There were happy faces not only among the more than 1000 participants from 34 different nations. Favorite victories at the 10th Brixen Dolomites Marathon

At the anniversary edition of the Brixen Dolomites Marathon on Saturday on the Plose, the favorites Andreas Reiterer from Avelengo and Klausner Doris Weissteiner were the first to cross the finish line. In total, over 1000 athletes from 34 different nations took part.
